Be thankful for what you’ve got

2nd May 2019

Walking around Glasgow, it seems that homelessness is a bigger issue than ever. I know it’s a complicated problem and that finding a solution isn’t easy. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.

Simon Community

So I called the Simon Community late last year to try and find out how best to help a man sleeping outside on the streets. They already knew the guy and had tried various ways to help him into housing. Sadly, they’ve not been successful in their attempts due to the man’s personal issues.

I think their approach to helping homeless people is inspiring. Their mission statement is: “We’re working to combat the causes and effects of homelessness. Our vision is that everyone should have a safe place to live and access to the support they need.”

It’s been freezing these last few weeks. We’ve had snow, frost, wind, rain and plummeting temperatures. It made me really want to do something to help. And that’s where you come in.

We're not doing a January sale.

Instead, we're going to donate 15% of all sales in January to the Simon Community.

Even if you can't help with a purchase in January we hope that you have a look at the Simon Community website ( www.simonscotland.org/help-someone/).

We’ll only make a difference if we all take a stand.

Thanks,

Richie
