Shoe's Black Book - Graffiti in the 1980s by Niels Shoe Meulman, Regular Edition. Only UK stockist!

Before the galleries. Before Calligraffiti. Before the recognition. There was this, a worn black book, filled with tags, pieces and outlines made by a teenager finding his feet in Amsterdam and New York.

Between 1985 and 1987, Niels Shoe Meulman documented his growth from wide-eyed newcomer to an artist with a fully formed style. Along the way he tagged alongside Rammellzee, Dondi White and Keith Haring. This is the record of that time.

The book was stolen. It came back. Now it's a facsimile, but not a cold one. Shoe's own notes and sharp recollections run through it, pulling the era into focus. Part diary, part playground, part piece of graffiti history that helped shape the culture rather than just document it.

Every copy is hand signed by Shoe, his tag forming an integral part of the cover design.
